National Endowment for the Arts | Big Read

The National Endowment for the Arts is announcing a new focus for the NEA Big Read program on contemporary authors and books written since the founding of the NEA 50 years ago. This is the 10th anniversary of the NEA Big Read, and we hope this updated list of books for communities to choose from will broaden the opportunities for discussion and increase the range of voices, perspectives, and writing styles for future NEA Big Read applicants to choose from.

Oregon Art in Public Places Roster Opportunity

National and international artists are invited to submit qualifications for the Oregon Art in Public Places Roster. The Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts & Culture Council manage the percent for art programs for the State of Oregon, Multnomah County, and City of Portland. The Roster is a resource for public art selection panels to identify artists most suitable for their community and specific project needs.

Oakland Park Public Art Project in Arlington, Virginia

Arlington County, Virginia is accepting qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in a public art opportunity at Oakland Park, located in the Virginia Square neighborhood of Arlington, VA. The selected artist/team will design, fabricate, and install a permanent work of art that will function as a shading element in the park that is being upgraded for enhanced user experience.

City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture

The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, in partnership with Fry’s Food Stores, a division of the Kroger Company, will commission two professional artists to create indoor murals for two new Fry’s grocery stores in the Phoenix area. The murals will be prominently displayed on a wall inside the stores as part of the Kroger Company’s commitment to involving artists in beautifying new stores in Arizona and throughout the nation.

The Discovery Center

The City of Philadelphia’s Percent for Art Program, through the Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, announce a public art competition to commission three site-specific entry-gates for The Discovery Center, a new environmental education center to-be-located in the Strawberry Mansion district of Fairmount Park in Philadelphia.

Deadline: August 24, 2016

Oro Valley Senior Living Public Art RFQ

The Oracle Road Assisted Living project will be a 101 unit Assisted Living and Memory Care community. The development includes (1) two-story building with associated amenities, drives, parking, utilities, landscaping, artwork, etc. There are two main courtyards, one focused on memory care residents and the other providing recreational opportunities for the assisted living residents.

Public Art Opportunity in Portland, Oregon

On behalf of the Oregon Zooand Metro Regional Government in Portland, Oregon, the Regional Arts & Culture Council invites artists/teams to submit qualifications for a percent-for-art commission for the Central Plaza / Polar Passage at the Oregon Zoo.

Tucson Orthopedic Institute in Oro Valley RFQ

The below goals will aid in the selection of the commissioned artwork. The project should be an original, site specific design fabricated in safe, durable, low maintenance materials that may withstand the harsh Arizona climate in the summer months. Proposals should be complimentary to the overall natural landscape of the surrounding region.

City of Roswell, Georgia

The City of Roswell, Georgia invites artists to submit proposals of existing outdoor art works for consideration for ArtAround Roswell 2017, a Sculpture Tour; a temporary art installation exhibited at various outdoor sites in the City of Roswell, Georgia. Proposals selected through this call will be considered for exhibition during 2017.

City of Bowie’s Centennial Park

The City is seeking an artist/artist team to create, fabricate, and install an outdoor sculpture at its’ newly named Centennial Park located by Bowie City Hall. The city is celebrating its 100th anniversary of its incorporation.

CDA Arts Commission seeks Artists for Mural Projects

The City of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission invites artists/artist teams to submit qualifications for consideration for two painted mural projects:

  • Sherman Square Park located at 315 Sherman Avenue in Downtown Coeur d’Alene
  • Centennial Trail Underpass

There is no theme for this Call to Artists; allowing for a creative interpretation that will reflect the vibrant beauty of the area.

Orlando Airport

One or more artists sought to commission for designs for permanent specialty flooring for four areas of the Ticket Lobby Program. Flooring budget is $600,000. Finalist stipend for proposal, $1,000. Artist fee negotiated after selection. Work will be installed by a contractor selected by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

Fry’s/Kroger Mural Project

The Kroger family of stores is excited to give local artists the opportunity to lend their talents to creating an uplifting experience in their stores. The objective of the mural project is to create a space that encourages community gathering and celebrates the spirit of the neighborhood.
